Reina – 7.0: Not much to do, but a brilliant double save in the first half was crucial for a slow starting Spain team.
Ramos – 7.0: Very dangerous on the attack and did have some set piece chances. Ramos and Navas “owned” the right flank in the first half, but were unable to capitalize.
Albiol – 6.0: Played well in the back, linked up well with his old Valencia pal, Carlos Marchena. Notched the assist on the Navas goal.
Marchena – 6.5: Still the hard man who has a unique winning streak record with the national team.. When Marchena plays, Spain wins. He beat Garrincha’s record and is now up to 51consecutive games without a loss.
Capdevila – 6.0: Stayed in the back for the most part and contributed admirably.
Javi Martinez – 7.5: The Athletic Bilbao player had a solid game in the middle of the pitch. He even participated in the attack and was extremely dangerous.
Iniesta – 6.5: It was interesting to see Iniesta play the Xavi role. He did an admirable job, but still not the maestro.
Fabregas – 5.5: Not a great game for the Arsenal captain, who looked distracted and a bit flat. He did have a wonderful shot on goal that hit the cross bar.
Mata – 6.5: Very fluid, he created a lot of space and opportunities for his teammates from the wings. Good game for Los Che player.
Llorente – 6.0: Decent, but lacked that final third finishing. He also got called a lot for fouls on the Korean defenders.
Subs:
Victor Valdes – 5.5: Close to making two howlers, but still controlled his area for the most part. Nice to see his debut.
Xabi Alonso – 7.0: Quality passing and distribution by the Madridista. He really opened up the game along with the maestro, Xavi.
Pedro – 6.0: Hardworking, always a threat. Good debut for the Canario.
Xavi – 7.0: Completely changed the game. Spain with Xavi is just on another level.
Villa – 6.5: Missed a few close range shots that were extremely difficult ones. His last attempt helped create the Navas winner.
David Silva – Not enough time to rate.
