Sporting KC Pick Micky Lopez in 2013 Draft

Sporting Kansas City selected University of North Carolina Tar Heel midfielder Mikey Lopez as the 14th pick of the MLS SuperDraft in Kansas City’s only draft pick of the 2013 draft.

Lopez is currently involved with the US Men’s U-20 side, along with fellow Sporting teammate Jon Kempin. Lopez was one of 20 players chosen for the roster that is currently in Puebla, Mexico in preparation for the CONCACAF u-20 tournament.

In two years at North Carolina Lopez appeared in 46 games tallying 5 goals and 5 assists. Was selected for 2012 All-American. In 2011 was selected as ACC Freshman of the Year.
